Lovely parents cooking.jpg

MONDAY 11 JUNE 2018  8AM TO 5PM

SATURDAY 11 AUGUST 2018 8AM TO 5PM

This is a great opportunity to generate some substantial fundraising which will benefit our whole school community.

However we are in need of some volunteers to help on the Sausage Sizzle stand throughout the day.   Duties include “Cook”,  “Serving”  & “Money Taker”.

To offer your help we have an online volunteer booking register, so that you can choose the time most convenient for you.    You can choose to help for just a half an hour, or more if you would like to.

Please log onto  www.schoolinterviews.com.au  and enter the code: sse8n

Then follow the instructions.

When you click FINISH, your time will be emailed to you automatically.   If you do not receive your email immediately check your junk mail folder AND make sure you have spelt your email address correctly.

For parents who do not have internet access, please contact Jenny in the front office or send a note to school with the approximate times you can volunteer.

Even if you cant help on the day, come and visit us at Bunnings and purchase a sausage!

Many thanks to those parents who helped at the BBQ on Monday.  We sold about 300 sausages!
We have another BBQ booked for Saturday 11 August so will be looking for some parents to help again.    Thank you in advance

Thanks to all the students and families who purchased the bright pink or blue shoelaces and wore them, and to those who purchased a cup cake for recess.

Special thanks to parent Shari Chambers for organising the fundraiser and for presenting at worship & praise a very moving story and video about her son Oscar (who is in year 4) who was born with Clubfoot and has undergone 9 operations.

Over $500 was raised and will go to help the Physiotherapists AT the WCH support more children with club foot (as the government has withdrawn funding in this area).

Lyndoch Road Wall

October 2018 update

The Wall:

You may have noticed that the front wall has been removed during the holidays. This has been a work in progress for over seven years and has involved a lot of consultation and process with our local town council. In April this year we received approval for its removal and over the last six months we’ve been working out some finer details, in consultation with our local town council. During the last couple of years we have had two engineers certify that the wall was beyond economic repair and was structurally unsafe.

The plan now is to redevelop this area over the next few months. This will involve some tasteful retaining at the eastern most end, hiding the rain water tanks that water the SAKG garden area. Then  in front of the old building we will have spear fencing, landscaping and up-lighting on the beautiful building that has previously been hidden. Either side of the front entrance there will again be some tasteful retaining (due to the services that are located in this area) and then the most western end will be open with spear fencing.

It’s been a long time in the process and we congratulate Jo McNair on her persistence and determination over a long period of time with this project.

National Book Week 18-24 August.

2018 theme is “Find your Treasure”

Each year, schools and public libraries across Australia spend a week celebrating books and Australian authors and illustrators.  Teachers and  librarians develop activities, offer competitions and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading

This is also a good time to remind students about the Premier’s Reading Challenge.  The challenge finishes on 7th September.  Keep reading and filling in those reading records
