“HOW WELL Do you know Gawler?”

Our Year 6 students had the chance to get a sneak preview of their year’s units of inquiry when they took part in a scavenger hunt based around all the units they will cover for 2019.  As part of their day’s experiences, they also had a chance to visit the new Gawler Civic Centre and to try out some new sports.  Lily and James have provided a report on their day:

YEAR 6 EXCURSION

On Friday15 February 2019 we went on an excursion around Gawler. We did a photographic scavenger hunt, played lawn bowls, had fun playing tennis and went on a tour of the new Civic Centre. It was a great day.

SCAVENGER HUNT

All the things we photographed linked to our Unit of Inquiry in some way.  Some of the interesting things we found were The Flying Fox in Lesley’s shop, a cup of flour from a bakery and an electric car charging!   Some of us even had a chance meeting with
Mr Tony Piccolo.

TENNIS and LAWN BOWLS

For tennis and lawn bowls the year six’s split into our separate classes to do the activities.  In lawn bowls we separated into groups of 5 and had fun figuring out how to get the ball to hit the kitty. In tennis we had free time to experiment playing tennis.

CIVIC CENTRE

We had a tour of the new Gawler Civic Centre.    We got to see the new Youth space and much more. We also went on the balcony and got to learn more about the aboriginal culture.

We learnt that there are lots of things to do in Gawler.  It was a great day!
