Trains returning April 2022
I am writing to provide you with an update regarding the progress of the Gawler Rail Electrification Project. A project update flyer is available here, and we encourage you to share this broadly with your community.
Also to note, the test train program on the Gawler rail line is commencing from Friday 25 February 2022, and will be increasing over the coming weeks. This means that trains will be running in the rail corridor without passengers, as the project enters its final signalling and electrical testing phases, before undertaking driver training. This will be followed by the return of passenger services on the Gawler rail line, which is anticipated for April 2022.
Please remind staff, students and families to always use dedicated pedestrian pathways and look both ways for trains before crossing the rail line, particularly as they may not be used to seeing trains in the corridor. Please follow all signage and directions from traffic controllers if present.
We will continue to provide information updates as the project progresses, including further information about safe behaviour around an electrified rail network.
