Volunteering

HOW TO VOLUNTEER AT IMMANUEL

People who volunteer in our school need to have completed:

1.  ‘Valuing Safe Communities’ training and

2.  Have a current police check.

Both of these have a life span of three years.

If you are due for the ‘Valuing Safe Communities’ training, this will be offered on school site and will be held in week three each term.

By doing it on site we have the opportunity to contextualise it for our school and answer any questions you may have.

Police Checks – this is also in time of change and we will need to make some decisions about when these are necessary and when they are not. At this stage we will be keeping with the regime that we have had, and that is that you need to have a current police check to volunteer in our school where you will have access to children in a 1:1 capacity.

Our school is committed to child protection and please be assured that any changes that are implemented will be student focussed and proactive.

Please feel free to speak to the Principal (Daryl Trigg) if you have any thoughts about any of this.

How to obtain a Police Clearance

Download the "Apply for a Police Check" Application form and complete as per instructions provided.

www.police.sa.gov.au/data/assets/pdf_file/0017/2609/PD267-National-Police-Check-Application-Electronic.pdf

As a volunteer working in a school there is no charge as the government will meet the costs.  Once the application form has been stamped at the police station, please return it to the school and the registered person will endorse the form with a Voan Number and forward onto SAPOL.

A copy of the Police Clearance needs to be sited and noted by the school office staff.   Police checks need to be updated every three years.

The school thanks you for your cooperation in this matter.

We are accountable for knowing who is on the school site at any given time.
