YEAR 4 EXCURSION

IMG_2548.JPG

To Maritime Museum in Port Adelaide on Thursday 1st March 2018
The Year 4 class have been working on a unit of inquiry about colonialism.
Central Idea:
Colonial powers raced to monopolise resources
Lines of inquiry:

  • The reasons for expanding empires
  • Changes that have occurred due to colonisation
  • Experiences of the people involved

They have been finding out about the experiences of people in Australia during colonial times and as part of this inquiry they visited the maritime museum in Port Adelaide.  The museum gave them a very hands-on opportunity to look into what life was like for those people travelling to Australia.

2 NIGHTS - FUN, GAMES, SEA & SURF!

Ode to Aldinga
We saved each other from the vicious waves
It was an exhausting walk to the beach
Aldinga’s waves were sparkly and shiny

We ran to snatch the flags
It was painful when landing on the hard sand
