IMMANUEL GAWLER – 2021 SPORTS DAY FRIDAY 24 SEPTEMBER
Immanuel’s Sports Day is designed to introduce, develop and consolidate student’s fundamental movement skills and build their self-confidence to participate in a wide range of physical activities. Students are also involved in team games/relays where they learn the skills of teamwork (cooperation and communication).
Due to our current school building projects happening, we have limited space available on our school grounds to successfully hold our sports day, therefore we have decided to shift the sports day venue to:
Venue: Gawler Sport and Community Centre, 7 Nixon Terrace, Gawler
Date: Friday 24 September (last day of term 3)
Time: Starting at 9.00am and concluding at 1.30pm (early dismissal)
We encourage families to drop-off their child/ren at the Gawler Sport and Community Centre from 8.30am to 9am. We also encourage families to pick-up their child/ren from this venue at 1.30pm.
However, as the sports day is being held off site and has an early dismissal time, we understand that this may prove difficult for some families. Therefore, we will be providing the following to help:
A morning bus service from School to the Gawler Sport and Community Centre will be provided for children leaving school at 9.00am sharp (if needed)
An afternoon bus service from the Gawler Sport and Community Centre to School will be provided for children leaving the venue at 1.30pm (if needed). These children will then participate in a range of ‘winding-down’ activities back at school until 3.25pm. iGOSH will be open for those needing to use this service.
Parents, caregivers, friends and families are invited to join us for Sports Day however in compliance with the Covid Safe Plan put in place by the Town of Gawler, we are restricted to a maximum capacity of 1000 people attending our School Sports Day. We will therefore limit the number of spectators to 2 only per family.
To register your attendance and to advise us on your child/rens transport requirements to / from sports day, we ask that all parents complete the questionnaire via our online booking system through www.schoolinterviews.com.au and enter the code wzu23. Please do this before Friday 10 September.
What to wear:
Students are to wear their sports uniform (including school hat)
They are encouraged to wear a team-coloured t-shirt (ideally with no labels/logos please).
Team coloured ribbons, socks and streamers can be worn.
Coloured hair is permitted but coloured hair sprays must be applied at home.
Please ensure your child has sunblock applied. We will provide extra sunscreen on site for during the day.
What to bring:
Students will need a healthy snack, recess and a water bottle in a small back pack.
Students remaining at school till 3.25pm will also need lunch provided
Subway can be ordered as normal on the Wednesday for lunch on Friday at the conclusion of Sports Day.
Subway will deliver the lunches to the sports day venue & will be handed out to students before dismissal.
Spectators are advised to wear masks, social distancing must be adhered to and QR Codes or Sign-In sheets are mandatory. As we are all accustomed to this now, advice can change quickly.
We look forward to a fun and exciting day with an interesting change of scenery for all our school children.
The Sports Day Program and further information will be provided closer to the day.
Yours in Sport
